The dangers of danger.

There are days when I wake up and all I want it someone to help me out with all this. The music business, where bands have an average of five members - I, as a solo artist have only one… Myself. 

Take into account that a full band can accumulate an audience many times faster than a solo artist can. As five personalities herding the masses to the same product with absolute passion and conviction are better than one. I have 525 twitter followers but If there were five of me I would have 2,625 followers. Take those numbers into account for youtube video views, Facebook page likes and anything else you can think of. 
Translate those figures into potential buyers of an EP for sale on iTunes.

-2,625 twitter followers
-Let’s say 50 youtube subscriptions
-Somewhere close to 4000 Facebook page likes
I’m going to assume 1,000 iTunes purchases of the entire product.

(5 tracks at 76c each) x 1,000 = $3,800

Subtract the production cost of making aforementioned EP. 

3,800 -
3,000 (this money comes from five different people’s pockets.)
= $800 profit. 

Divide that money five ways.

$160 for each person. 
seems like not much for all that effort right?
The band also have sold some other merch and have made money from the door at some shows. 

Let’s see what happens when we have one person.

-Somewhere close to 99 Facebook page likes
I’m going to assume 300 iTunes purchases of the entire product. (in my dreams!)

(5 tracks at 76c each) x 300 = $1,140

Subtract the production cost of making aforementioned EP. 

1,140 -
3,000 (out of my own pocket alone)
= -$1,600 (no profit made)

I’m $1,600 poorer and I’ve sold no merch and made no door money because I don’t have a band. Which people tend to think must mean I have no talent. This is the main reason I can’t accumulate any significant traffic to purchase my product! 
 

I am outnumbered and severely outgunned. 

While full bands my age are still writing EPs and Singles for iTunes - I have just written and recorded an 11 track album by myself. The only help with which i get from my producers. 

Why have I done this you may ask?

Right now I am asking myself the exact same question.


I am being pulled forward by something that is bigger than me. 
I can feel it. There is a reason for all this madness and pain I am putting myself through, I just don’t know what that reason is. 

Maybe I just want to give you another piece of my soul. 

If people don’t like it, I’ll say I don’t care.
The truth is I couldn’t care more about anything I’ve ever created in my entire life.

Either way I will grit my teeth and do it all again. Without hesitation I will keep going.

That is what this album is about.
I will die before I compromise this message.
